Wall is a social messaging app that focuses on the integrity of conversation - personal, unguarded, and of the moment. The goal of the app is to provide users with an experience that is simple, private, familiar, and social.
I coordinated and led all facets of design, which included its information architecture, user task flows, interaction patterns, and prototyping. I also conducted user research using methods such as interviews, surveys, focus groups, and participatory design, in order to address both user behavior and attitudes.
Social media used to be about connecting with your friends, colleagues, family etc. when you couldn't in real life. I see many friends leaving current social networks and longing for something more private and more anonymous. And with leaving, I don't mean deleting their account; they just interact less, post less. My question is... Why?
Create a platform that allows users to communicate freely by addressing the social pressures that come with having a post that may or may not get a lot of likes and/or comments. If this is done effectively it will remove a persons ability to question whether or not to post.
1. Make likes private.
2. Provide users with the option to respond to posts publicly and/or privately.
3. Create a user interface/experience that is simple and familiar.
4. Remove unnecessary notifications.
5. Make the user feed chronological.
My design process began by drafting a general information architecture using paper sketches. With the IA in place, I created mid-fidelity wireframes using Sketch.
Using the wireframes I explored main usage scenarios by testing various user flows, in order to identify key layout and interaction pattern irregularities.
After testing the mid-fidelity prototype, I identified inconsistent interaction patterns as well as interface irregularities. After solving those problems I created high-fidelity screens and prepared them for prototyping.
After testing the high-fidelity prototype with respected designers and friends I gathered their insights and refined my work. For example, instead of having to swipe to like or comment on a post I simply added buttons.
Once I established the final interface design, I worked on the onboarding process and created high-fidelity prototypes using InVision.
